Executive Summary

Noku built a self-custody multichain wallet and on-chain gaming products starting in 2016 and is now evolving into Noku One, a protocol for cross-chain, cross-bank and cross-country value transfer. Gianluca Perletti is Chief Technology Officer and has worked on its wallet infrastructure, smart contracts and protocol integrations.

The Problem & Industry Challenge

Value is fragmented across hundreds of blockchains, each with its own assets, standards and bridges, and across banking rails that do not talk to each other.

Cross-chain bridges have been among the most exploited components in decentralized finance, with large losses caused by key compromises and smart contract bugs.

Traditional wallets also expose users to seed phrases, gas tokens and complex signing flows, which slows down adoption by both institutions and consumers.

My Role & Technical Leadership

Gianluca Perletti is Chief Technology Officer of Noku, where he has worked since 2018 on technical strategy, smart contract architecture and systems development.

He worked on Noku's multichain wallet infrastructure, covering key management, transaction signing and non-custodial asset management across EVM networks.

He has designed, reviewed and deployed production smart contracts for Noku's products.

Through Noku, he has worked on the company's projects with the City of Lugano, including the MyLugano app and SwissLedger.

His engineering focus includes execution clients, protocol-level work and defensive smart contract engineering.

Technical Architecture & Systems Engineering

Noku One (in development)

a protocol layer that aims to connect blockchains, banks and countries, abstracting networks, bridges and gas away from end users. Noku states that full architecture details will be released later.

Multichain non-custodial wallet

self-custody wallet supporting standard HD key derivation (BIP-32/39/44) and multiple EVM networks such as Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon and Optimism.

Execution client operations

running and customizing node clients (such as Erigon) for production RPC throughput, state sync and mempool monitoring.

Smart contract suite

Solidity contracts for token issuance, staking and asset transfers, developed with invariant testing, reentrancy guards and role-based access control.

Zero-Knowledge & privacy research

exploration of ZK proofs and privacy-preserving compliance approaches.

Integration APIs

backend services built with NestJS, Go, Redis/BullMQ and gRPC for transaction routing, webhooks and automatic re-submission during gas spikes.

Results & Verified Milestones

[1]

Noku's wallet, swap, bridge and staking components have been operated in production for years, as stated on noku.io.

[2]

Noku lists the MyLugano app (official app of the City of Lugano, over 30,000 active users according to Noku) among its projects.

[3]

Noku is one of the technology partners of the City of Lugano for SwissLedger and the Swiss Digital Key initiative.

[4]

The company is now transitioning from a consumer wallet to the Noku One protocol.
